Amazing to see how the other side where that many in this generation enjoy the "dark side" but don't want to look at the illumination on the "other side" where there is joy forevermore. I too often change "Thee" to "You." and that sort of thing. I often change words to make sure they align with my commitment, truth, and to make them more personal in worship. I like your attitudes. Bless you.Ada Brownell, authorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02338718323371783296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7267702661377367990.post-24356517607352026842012-03-11T22:28:25.082-07:002012-03-11T22:28:25.082-07:00This is a great post and explains a lot about why ...This is a great post and explains a lot about why so many are stuck in the contemporary music. I guess growing up on it, I never thought about the death element as a negative since it was always talking about death being a door to eternity. It's funny, though, how this generation can practically celebrate death with all the dark stuff (not so much in the church, but some), and yet want to remove death, spirits, blood, etc. from Scriptures.

I also know some of the King James peasant's English can make some not like the older hymns, but I hear a lot of people sing "you" instead of "ye" and such, so that could make the older hymns more attractive. Personally, I sing Bluegrass, so I love the old hymns, but even I like to sing "You are my Potter" instead of "Thou art the Potter" because it feels more personal. By the way, my hubby loves the book "Why Johnny Can't Sing Hymns" and asked me to mention it to you after I read part of your post to him.

~Crystal (found link on ACFW loop)Crystal A Murrayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00242357273649457588noreply@blogger.com
