People ask
for all sorts of different gifts for Christmas. Somebody wishes for his two
front teeth, as the song goes. Others want toys, diamonds, furs or cars. One
singer promises he’ll be home for Christmas.
Just seven days later, we almost forget what
we received. We make New Year’s
resolutions where we plan to give ourselves things we dream of – slimmer
healthier bodies, a better job, new love, more education, or accomplishing
something great.
Jesus
already gave us the greatest Gift and we celebrate that at Christmas. But we
can open it—or rather open our hearts to the Savior— any time of year and
receive not only forgiveness of sins, but eternal life, and he also gives us
joy here. How wonderful is that?

Review: How I would have loved to sit at Mrs. Brownell's knee when I was
a teen. This wholesome book resounds with sage, Godly advice and could be
picked up again and again as needs arise. Worthwhile for parents too. Much
fodder for family discussion.
